The main question of our age is how do we know? When it comes to spiritual truths, the ultimate beliefs are ultimately unprovable (like the sovereignty of God, the Trinity, etc.) but believable. We have the God-given ability to know and understand what God teaches us, directly or through his Word. While knowing means to initially comprehend God’s revelation about himself and the universe, we will need to engage our mind to try to comprehend the wonderful depths and mystery of the truths we encounter. We immediately realize that while we may have an elementary understanding of a particular doctrine or truth, we need to continually grow our understanding and as we do we will be filled with awe and gratefulness. Indeed, the immediate effect of increased understanding is increased amazement and wonder. Glorifying God increases as our knowledge of him and his wonderful love and works increases.
